Leicester Dawoodi Bohras Walk for Physical & Mental Health

The global pandemic has affected everyone’s lives over the last 18 months.  Many peoples’ mental and physical health have been negatively impacted by working from home, remote schooling and social distancing.

Maintaining health and fitness is an important priority for Dawoodi Bohras.  From incorporating more nutritious ingredients in the community kitchen menus, organising webinars to discuss mental well-being, and participating in nationwide sports competitions, Dawoodi Bohras encourage and motivate one another to lead healthier lifestyles.

The Bohra community aims to encourage and support each other in walking just 30 minutes every day in order to increase cardiovascular fitness, boost muscle power and endurance, reduce the risk of developing certain health conditions and play a big part in supporting mental health.

To encourage its members to start including physical activity in their daily lives – and to bring families and friends together again – the Dawoodi Bohras of Leicester organized a community walk around the city’s beautiful Victoria Park.

On a crisp, gloriously sunny, Autumn day, the Dawoodi Bohras began their 5km walk at Leicester’s Arch of Remembrance, enjoying spending time with each other after so many months of lockdown.
