The local Dawoodi Bohra community recently organised a food collection drive with long-term partners One Roof Leicester, a local charity that provides accommodation, support and advice to people who are homeless, destitute refugees, asylum seekers and vulnerably housed in Leicester.

Dawoodi Bohras communities across the UK came together over the last month to raise much-needed funds for the international earthquake relief effort. Community members in London, Leicester and Nottingham hosted local fundraisers to gather donations for the charity White Helmets, a volunteer organisation that provides support with medical evacuation, urban search and rescue, and essential service delivery.
Under the umbrella of Project Rise – a global initiative that aims to foster a culture of empathy, awareness and generosity so that no individual is neglected, overlooked or marginalised – the Dawoodi Bohras of Leicester continued their support of local charity One Roof Leicester to provide their clients with food provisions and other essentials.
The Happy Nests initiative is a global Dawoodi Bohra programme to reduce, reuse and upcycle plastic. Alefiyah Zaini, head of the Leicester Dawoodi Bohra women’s association, has championed many Happy Nests projects, encouraging the community to play its part in reducing plastic usage and turning the tide against plastic pollution. On Friday 10th September 2021, His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin inaugurated the Dawoodi Bohra Masjid in Leicester and named it Burhani Masjid.
