Hounslow East Pharmacy was established in 2010 by co-owner, Taizun Hassanali a member of The Dawoodi Bohras of London.
Hounslow East Pharmacy has been chosen by the Academy of Robotics to trial a driverless delivery van, as part of a UK Research and Innovation funded trial into autonomous vehicle deliveries from pharmacies to care homes.

‘Kar-go’, the autonomous delivery vehicle designed and built by the Academy of Robotics, is loaded with medication at the pharmacy and then drives to pre-programmed addresses. The patient is notified by text when it arrives and then collects the medication from outside their doorstep.

According to The Pharmaceutical Journal there are plans to continue driverless medication deliveries for several months to care homes and individuals. At present the trial remains in Hounslow but the Academy looks to spread out across various areas across London.
During COVID-19, staying at home is vital. We applaud Taizun and his colleagues for all the work they’ve done as front line workers and for their success with Kar-go.
