Dawoodi Bohras Host Nottingham Police at their Community Centre

During Ramadan, the Dawoodi Bohras of Nottingham hosted a friendly visit by Ashfield Neighbourhood Police Inspector Jon Hewitt and his colleague Police Community Support Officer Simon Gizzard from Hucknall Police Station.

Inspector Hewitt, who had never been to a Mosque before, and Officer Gizzard were provided with a tour of the premises and given a brief introduction to the Dawoodi Bohra faith, community, and culture – including an Iftar bag of treats to share with their families and friends.

Inspector Hewitt commented, “The Dawoodi Bohras are clearly a really good faith group to be part of, with high aspirations for all.  The way you look after the community is really inspiring.”

Inspector Hewitt offered to visit the community center on a future Saturday to talk to young students of the community’s Saturday School to educate them about the work of the police force.

We are grateful to Inspector Hewitt, Officer Gizzard and all members of the emergency services for their tireless work to keep our community safe.  We look forward to welcoming them and other members of our local police force to our center in the near future.
