Ladies of London Serve Afternoon Chai for Macmillan Cancer Support

Drawing inspiration from Macmillan’s “World’s Biggest Coffee Morning”, the Ladies of London organised their very own “Afternoon Chai” event, selling both sweet and savoury items such as cakes, cookies, samosas and chaat, with endless cups of spiced Indian chai.  There was something for every taste, including a chocolate fountain, fresh waffles and even a face painting station for children.

Dawoodi Bohras Volunteer for Queen’s Green Canopy Tree Planting in Bradford

As part of the Dawoodi Bohras’ Project Rise initiative, members of the Bradford community battled through the snow to participate in the planting of 10,000 trees for Bradford Council’s ‘Tree for Every Child’ scheme.

Leicester Masjid Inauguration

On Friday 10th September 2021, His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin inaugurated the Dawoodi Bohra Masjid in Leicester and named it Burhani Masjid. Over 1,500 Dawoodi Bohras from across the UK and abroad attended the inauguration. His Holiness resided in Leicester for two days. During his sermon,he prayed for the prosperity of the UK and for Dawoodi Bohras to continue being faithful, patriotic and conscientious members of society to the fullest.

Bradford Dawoodi Bohras take on the ‘Bradford Step Challenge’

The Dawoodi Bohras in Bradford are keeping fit by taking up the ‘Bradford Step Challenge’. Participants are aiming to walk at least 10,000 steps a day and use a mobile phone app to incentivise members to ‘get out and walk.’ The Challenge has brought the community together and has encouraged community members to take up this physical activity together in groups.

Bradford Bohras Join Council For Mosques at 40th Anniversary Celebrations

A delegation from the Bradford Dawoodi Bohra community attended celebrations to mark the 40th Anniversary of the Council for Mosques. The event was held to commemorate the many ways in which the Council for Mosques has brought about positive change in British society, both locally and nationally, such as campaigning for halal meals in schools and spearheading interfaith alliances.

Bohra Volunteers Clear 150 Kilos of Litter from Bradford Streets on World Clean-Up Day

Over 60 people – men, women and children, young and old – from the Dawoodi Bohra community of Bradford marked World Clean-up Day by volunteering to pick up litter from local streets near to their masjid.

Joined by special guest Dr Javed Bashir, Safeguarding Consultant at Strengthening Faith Institutions, the Dawoodi Bohra volunteers cleared up over 150 kilograms of rubbish.

London Dawoodi Bohras Walk for Women’s Wellness

On 11th July, members of the Dawoodi Bohra community of London held a “Women’s Wellness Walk” to enjoy – and raise awareness of – the benefits of walking for physical and mental health.

Over 20 women made the 5-mile walk around the grounds of Holland Park and Hyde Park in central London.  Women of all ages participated, from teenagers through to ladies in their 70s.  The walk was presided over by Umaima Zainuddin, head of the local Bohra women’s association.
