Breaking Fasts and Building Bonds: London Dawoodi Bohras Host Iftars

As Ramadan, the sacred ninth month of the Islamic calendar, envelops the world, the Dawoodi Bohra community joins millions of Muslims in observance.  Amidst this spiritual time, members gather at Husainy Masjid in Northolt, London, to pray, meditate, share meals, and engage in heartfelt conversations, deepening their unity and connection with their faith.

The London Dawoodi Bohra community recently had the honour of breaking their fasts alongside local and international guests.  Shahzada Ammar Jamaluddin, President of the London Dawoodi Bohras and brother of His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, presided over the Iftar dinners.  The evenings provided a platform for both longstanding and newfound friends of the London Dawoodi Bohras to experience the serenity of Husainy Masjid and savour a delectable, traditional Dawoodi Bohra meal/cuisine in the company of fellow community members.

Among the esteemed attendees were the High Commissioner of India, Shri Vikram K Doraiswami, representatives from the Embassy of Iraq, Consul Mr. Jawher Amin, Mr. Zebary, and Mr. Alnasseri, as well as Mayor Hitesh Tailor of Ealing, Deputy Lord Lieutenant Richard Kornicki, Members of Parliament James Murray and Virendra Sharma, and representatives from neighbouring businesses and community partners.

The evening commenced with a warm reception, followed by a guided tour of Husainy Masjid together with a video presentation about the history of Dawoodi Bohras in London.  Shahzada Jamaluddin shared a special message from His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, followed by insightful speeches from distinguished guests.

In this spirit of togetherness, the community expressed gratitude for the presence of esteemed guests, both familiar faces and newcomers alike.  The month of Ramadan, with its emphasis on gratitude, patience, generosity, and solidarity, is exemplified through the act of breaking fast together, reinforcing the values cherished by the Dawoodi Bohra community.
